Thanks. Few minutes ago I was precisely trying to solve exactly the same problem, and my solution was to run an ethernet cable that would be about 45 to 55 feet long. This, for me, is the most fortuitous thread of the year. -

I liked the debates of few years ago regarding 607 vs 587, and obviously we know who the losers were. Those debates made me take a closer look at subjects that I hardly knew anything about, religion, archaeology, history of antiquity, the Bible. Many great apostates back then who no longer write here. Leolaia being the most remarkable of all. Her erudition was one of a kind, and yet it was accompanied by an unpretentious demeanor. Rarely do you find people like that. She won every single time, even though I doubt that she attempted to debate and win. She just knew and shared. -

Beast of no nation
by WasOnceBlind ini always had a problem with the belief that god is allowing all the suffering in this world to go on just to vindicate his name and prove the devil wrong.
i watched this movie on netflix and i can really see why the atheist movement is growing.
it really does a good job of portraying the suffering in some parts of the world.

The math is not bad. You have zillions of chemical reactions around the universe under very wide range of conditions going on for billions of years. It's like playing the lottery. If you do it one time, the odds of winning are very, very tiny. But if you play lotto for billions of years, you are bound to get the prize many times. Abiogenesis is the same thing. I am quite confident that scientists will be playing God some time in the future, and create life out of organic substances. -

I was hoping to see the long list. I believe it is quite possible to come up with even more than 141. -

Very funny indeed.
Younger governing body member, Mark Sanderson, is missing. Holly shit!, I can even tell who is missing. I have been spending too much time concerned with Watchtower issues, and I haven't even been a JW. It's time to move on.
Hell no! I will stay until the best part of the movie is over. I think that part is about to unfold.

2016 Calendar: Give us more money!
by wifibandit injust got a peak at the 2016 calendar and i cannot tell you how much it bothered me.
it's all about constructing new kh and assembly halls, which is completely ironic given that the construction stopped almost worldwide.obviously this is proof that the borg is shifting from a magazine publisher to a real estate conglomerate, no wonder they're getting rid of 12 issues of magazines all together.. now, while the pdf of this is not up on the site yet, i will post confirmation as soon as it becomes available.
weather that is by legitimate means or other wise..

elder,
I don't think your numbers refer to new constructions. They must include remodeling/repairs too. I believe the latter is the bulk of the total.

You must be right Simon. I must be wrong.

Umbertoecho,
Oh well, you started it. It sounds quite unlikely, but in the realm of plausibility. Here it goes:
The Royal Commission has been very open throughout every part of the procedure, why is it that now turns Watchtoweresque and becomes secretive about who can bring litigation against the Watchtower. I certainly got a problem with that, so my fertile imagination comes with a possible scenario. Is it perhaps corruption within the Royal Commission? Someone inside the RC in a position of power is trying to give exclusive, huge business to friends/family/partners, who in turn will share the spoils with that person(s) inside the RC.
You see, when an organization becomes secretive, it allows people to distrust and become very imaginative. My main point is not the unlikely scenario that I am describing, but that it is fair that anyone can voice his/her opinions, however crazy they are, and the rest of us should restrain from throwing insults just because those opinions don't suit our own opinion, even if we can claim knowledge and first hand experience regarding the issue.

So sorry about your loss. Thank you for reminding me too of the importance of being supportive and compassionate towards those whom we love. My mom is still alive, she is over 70. I will make my best efforts to be with her as much as possible while she can enjoy the company and support of those around her. -

Umbertoecho,
From whatever little I read in your past posts you have the right to be angry, very angry... at the Watchtower. Don't take it on someone who gives you a voice and has given thousands a voice, even helped them find freedom from the stronghold of the Watchtower. In the big picture, Simon and many here are on your side. You are acting just like the Watchtower leaders, arrogant and derisive towards those who simply disagree or know less than you do. Calm down! Don't escalate this more than you have.
